Down the Road

by Steve Mitchell

I’ve since quit driving with my left hand all up high the wheel, resting on top, cool and casual.  A 25 years long habit broken because I read about air bags.

Now, I drive with my hands low and to the side.

Air bags can bust you up.

I don’t want my wrist broken.  I don’t want the skin torn from my hand.

No, Sir.

Don’t get me wrong – I don’t plan on using the air bag, but … you know.

If you want to make God laugh, tell him your best joke.

too late

He knows that one.
