Stop Killing Us

by Steve Mitchell

That’s where we are in this country.  That’s where we are in the United States of America.

Stop Killing Us

American citizens, black Americans, neighbors and coworkers and friends, have reached the point they feel they must ask anybody and everybody to stop killing them.

Stop Killing Us

It isn’t a request for special treatment.  It isn’t playing the race card. It isn’t bellyaching about slavery or acting uppity or asking for reparations or being thuggish or saying white lives don’t matter.  It isn’t any of those things black Americans are so often accused of.

Stop Killing Us

It’s a basic request.  It’s a request which should go without saying.   Regardless of our various ideologies, the very fact so many American citizens feel they have to ask for this one thing, this one basic, constitutional liberty, is a problem. America has a problem.

Stop Killing Us

We can do better.  We have to do better.
